Proudworks was honored to welcome back the ECYD Girls’ Summer Camp for another memorable afternoon of volunteering with our Community Rehabilitation Services (CRS) and Life Transitions clients.

Initiated through one of our valued Adult Foster Care (AFP) community partners, the visit brought together campers and clients for an afternoon filled with games, art projects, laughter, and genuine conversation. While the activities were fun, it was the relationships that made the greatest impact.

Following the visit, many of the girls shared how much they enjoyed getting to know our clients on a personal level. They left with a new understanding that having a disability does not define a person’s potential. They saw firsthand that individuals with disabilities have goals, talents, careers, independence, and aspirations—just like everyone else.

The experience also opened their eyes to the breadth of Proudworks’ mission. As they learned more about our programs and the work happening throughout our organization—from Community Rehabilitation Services and Life Transitions to production, workforce development, transportation, and community employment—they gained a deeper appreciation for how Proudworks creates opportunities that strengthen both individual lives and our community.

These experiences remind us that volunteering is about more than giving time. It’s about building understanding, breaking down barriers, and creating connections that inspire all of us.

We are grateful to the ECYD Girls’ Summer Camp for returning to Proudworks and to our AFP community partner for helping make this meaningful experience possible. We look forward to welcoming them back again next summer!
