Ashleigh began working with Supported Employment in 2016 with a job placement at Pet Smart.
Ashleigh learned all of her assigned tasks quickly and soon took on new tasks and became
crossed trained throughout the store. She was a valued employee and thrived at Pet Smart. The
managers and co-workers became her friends. In March of 2020, Pet Smart closed due to
COVID, and she was laid off. During the time she was laid off, her grandmother, with whom she
lived, became ill and passed away. At that time Ashleigh moved in with her mother. Her plan
was to live there long enough to save money and eventually find her own place. In 2022,
Ashleigh was ready to return to work and with Proudworks Services she
found employment at the GAP Outlet. She works as a warehouse stock person and excels at her
job. Ashleigh has found an apartment and has been living independently since January of 2025.
