Supported Employment
WHAT WE DO
Supported Employment provides the following services:
- Person-Centered Employment Plan (PCEP) customized to each individual’s unique vocational goals and needs
- Skills and interest assessments to help determine suitable job opportunities
- Resume & interview preparation
- Public Transit Support to navigate bus routes, schedules, transfers, and fare payment for safe, independent transportation to and from work
- Job coaching to assist with training and acclimation
- Long-term follow-up support to promote job retention
- Project SEARCH (see additional info below)
ELIGIBILITY & QUALIFICATIONS
Eligible candidates for Supported Employment may include individuals with disabilities, or other barriers to employment, ages 16 and up, and residing in Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Owen, or Pendleton Counties.
Project SEARCH
Project SEARCH is a transition-to-work program for young adults, under the umbrella of Proudworks’ Supported Employment, and in partnership with Campbell County Schools, Northern Kentucky University, and KY Vocational Rehabilitation. This immersive program takes place at NKU and combines classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on training through worksite rotations. Graduates of Project SEARCH receive individualized job search and placement assistance. This program is also affiliated with the National Project SEARCH program.
WHAT WE DO
- Training- Project SEARCH interns complete three immersive internships that build real-world job skills, workplace professionalism, and confidence—preparing them for successful entry-level employment in the community.
- Employment- As interns near graduation, individualized job development and placement services connect them to competitive, integrated employment opportunities that match their skills and goals.
- Support- Graduates receive personalized long-term follow-up services, workplace supports, and connection to community resources to ensure continued success and job retention.
ELIGIBILITY & QUALIFICATIONS
Project SEARCH serves high school students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services or young adults ages 18-30 who are also VR -eligible and/or have an intellectual or developmental disability. Interested individuals must complete the application process and receive approval from the Norse Project SEARCH selection committee.
